Diamonds are forever. This concept originates from the fact that diamonds are the hardest substance in the world. But it is no more true.

According to physicsworld.com, scientists in Germany have created a substance that is harder than diamonds. The substance is made by subjecting carbon-60 molecules to pressure. The new substance formed is a form of carbon, which is known as aggregated diamond nanorods.

Aggregated diamond nanorods have modulus of 491 GPa as compared to 442 GPa of diamonds. Hence diamonds arent forever.
