When you buy a diamond ring, keep one thing in mind. Most of the diamonds sold in market are not ideal cut. They are poorly cut. Main reasons responsible for this are:

1) Lack of skilled diamond cutters and their meager salaries.

2) Lack of awareness of diamond specifications among diamond buyers.

3) Diamond merchants make more money by cutting heaviest possible diamond stone. This is because people are more conscious about carat weight instead of an ideal cut.

4) Cutting a rough stone to ideal specifications needs four to eight times more time and effort.
